A swimming pool with enclosure, commissioned by a private Client which sits within the grounds of a country estate.
The building responds to the undulating surrounding landscape through its profile and materials and becomes part of the garden. Materials are pre-dominantly a glulam beam structure, planar glazed roof and walls with intermediate sections of curved copper roofing. The building sinks into the landscape which is then dressed with hard and soft landscaping of stone and natural foliage. The curved glulam beams sit on low level bases which disappear into the sloping edge of the garden. Soft textured tiling sits with stonework and steel in harmony with floating platforms which are linked by steps and small bridges. Accommodation includes sauna and changing rooms and a sunken lounge carefully rendered with soft lighting and overhead blinds controlling sunlight. |
