Description:
Tg-Studio was commissioned as interior designers for this country estate in the north of Ibiza, the property consists of a 3 bedroom house, surrounded by two hectares of lush gardens in which two additional houses provide two further bedrooms and en-suites. Tg-Studios clients purchased the building a few years earlier and felt that a makeover focused on the interiors was required. The main house consists of a larger living room come dining room and kitchen. There are two main bedrooms with en-suites on this level and a further bedroom with shower and roof terrace on the first floor. There is also a lean too bread oven structure adjacent to the main area for storing towels. The gardens also house a large pool and pool house for relaxing and this area also provides a party space/chill out area with bar. Planning restrictions forbid the extension of the building and TG-Studio had to work within the existing building. We found this very easy as the building, and inherited design is very handsome and it was mostly the interior that was neglected, so naturally the project was an interior design task. The main room features 4 metre high ceilings and large sliding glass doors so that in the summer the living room doubles up with the outside terrace. TG-Studio demolished the kitchen and installed a state of the art Doca kitchen with Gagganeu appliances, flame black granite worktops; grey tinted mirrored backsplash and painted white oak doors. We installed a new wood burning fireplace with flamed granite base and black steel back, this feature also holds a 70 inch TV, surround sound system and hides a new double height towel storage room. This has allowed for the niche featuring the bread oven to be opened up into the main room. The bread oven before was hidden behind a partition wall and used as storage. TG-Studio designed it so that it now opens up into the living room and introduced a circular roof light with four different shaped windows with yellow tinted glass to create a very large chill out niche/snug. In the night these windows glow yellow and stand out next to the stone of the façade. All flooring consisting of natural stone was sanded and sealed, the house was re-painted and TG-Studio fully furnished the villa. As all finishes and colours are kept in the Ibizan cool white; colours and textures while selecting the furniture was important to make a ‘London Cool hits Ibiza’ feel. The clients who are property developers in the UK use the villa for family vacations and privately rent to friends when not being occupied by them. They had asked not to create the stereotypical Bali feel but wanted an interesting eclectic feel with calm, happy, urban lines throughout. Bedroom 2 has a Moroccan influence and the studio an organic feel. The Bali house on the grounds was imported from Bali, hence its name; it features an amazing open aired bathroom. TG-Studio added furniture to compliment the scheme which includes the Bobbili Stoom wooden side tables from Andrew Martin, and the birdcage desk lamp. The pool house was extended and re-organised to house a large bar with built in fridges, a grill and a woodfire pizza oven. TG-Studio designed the furniture and selected the Holly Hunt fabrics for the pool house which were then manufactured and upholstered by local contractors.
